Frequently Asked Questions
How can I start working with you?
You can email me, call my mobile phone or text my mobile phone. If I am busy with other clients I will reply as soon as I can. If you are under the care of a physician for your condition(s) you may ask them for orders for physical therapy but this is not required in Maryland. Email: ascensionptofmd@gmail.com

What are trigger points and what causes them?
Simply speaking trigger points are tight sections of fibers within a muscle. They are easily identified by a physician or therapist by palpation. That is pressing on the various muscles to identify what feels like a thickened band or knot in the muscle. The pressure may cause you to feel tenderness and pain including referred pain.
The causes of trigger points are multiple, see my page Trigger Points for more information.
What should I prepare for my initial consultation?
Wear lose comfortable clothing suitable for exercise and hands on therapy techniques. Chose a location in your home that's relatively quiet and comfortable. I need about a 10 feet by 5 feet wide space to set up my treatment table with adequate space to move around.
What is referred pain?
Referred pain is pain that is felt outside the area of the effected muscle. The pattern of referred pain is often similar from one person to the next. I am very familiar with these patterns, which helps me develop my treatment plan for each individual.
